Showing the fractured nature of traumatic memory is incredibly hard to describe, much less show in a film. I've watched documentaries about the Japanese American internment with family members, and it was startling for me to watch how they ended up debating small points, such as what were the different meals served in the mess hall or what the weather was like in May of 1942. Rea Tajiri did a spectacular job of pointing out how memory both aligned with and went against historical events.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
