I've learned so much since the first time meeting the 2011 RV team at the LA Film Festival and the first day of class to today. Going in with no background in film, everything from how to watch a film to how to make a log line (or two) to filming and editing was new to me; I couldn't have dreamed up a better first experience! Many thanks to our two fearless leaders, Uncle Mike and Jason, and lovely, endlessly organized assistant Jini, all of whom challenged and inspired us throughout the summer... Thanks also to Phil for getting me started editing (and teaching us how to use the fancy coffee pot in the kitchen), Dan for keeping us posted on what SDAFF's up to, everyone in and around the office for being super nice and welcoming us into the SDAFF family, and the 2011 Reel Voices mentors for general awesome-ness.
Thanks to all my fellow RV'ers for a terrific couple months (nine more Facebook friends, and about two hundred new Facebook messages…)! I was so lucky to get this opportunity; to any potential Reel Voices applicants out there - APPLY! You'll have a great time, promise. Hope to see everyone soon at the San Diego Asian Film Festival!
