Kami's Intern Blog 2/22/2010

Does anyone remember Vincent Chin?  To some the name may ring some phantom bell of remembrance, while others may be moved to tears by the recollection of the utter injustice.  For those of you who still don't know what I am talking about, Wikipedia the name.  Learn about the historical indifference rooted within this nation's fabric.  Though cultural and physical differences often create sparks of dissonance, it is important that a striving for understanding and appreciation is embraced, bridges built, and unity reached.

This past week at SDAFF, I've begun to realize how naturalized it has become to remain cool and separated.  As we have attempted to spread the word of our Connect San Diego program, I finally see the conflicting desire of communities to keep and remain safe among themselves, among those who embrace them whole heartedly and unquestioningly.  It is this characteristic that we need to promote and genuinely participate in; this idea that we are out to share selfless love within a community of beautiful difference.
