Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is coming to San Diego theaters on July 22nd.



Based off the Lisa See novel of the same name, "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" tells a tales of a friendship in 19th century and present day China. The story told in the past follows two girls names, Lily and Snow Flower, as they go through the painful process of foot binding at the same time, and write letters to one another on fans. Overtime their friendship is challenged as their situations in life cause then to drift apart. Many years later, the Snow Flower and Lily's descendants, Nina and Sophia, find their lives going in a similar path, as the two struggle to keep their childhood friendship as their worlds grow apart.



Directed by Wayne Wang and distributed by Fox Searchlight, "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" opens in selected cities starting July 15th, 2011. The film comes to San Diego starting July the 22nd, at the Landmark Hillcrest Cinema and AMC La Jolla 12.
