I don't usually get too excited about what I see on MTV. However last night was, in my opinion, a huge night for the Asian Pacific Islander community at the MTV Movie Awards. To begin with, they had the hilarious Aziz Ansari (Raaaaanndddy in Judd Apatow Flick FUNNY PEOPLE + starring role on NBC Show PARKS AND RECREATION) hosting the show. His stand up+digital shorts throughout the night brought down the house and introduced him to a HUGE population of new fans (and even more importantly the pop culture MTV demographic w/disposable income aplenty who can buy into his budding career).
There were also huge wins for the very funny Ken Jeong (BEST W.T.F. Moment from THE HANGOVER) and Korean Pop Star RAIN (BIGGEST BAD ASS). Ken Jeong had one of the most emotional speeches (which is a bit weird considering what he won the award for) of the night- as it was dedicated to his wife Tran, who was going through treatment for Cancer while he was filming the movie (Thankfully she's officially Cancer Free!). Although he stumbled across a few words on stage, it doesn't take away from the fact that RAIN won Biggest Bad Ass. And he did so over Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, Chris Pine, and Sam Worthington!
